To promote and evangelize “Love for Karachi” I have created first version of “I Love Karachi” banners. Whether you’re in Karachi or not, you can use any of these banners. More banners plus variations may be coming soon. Spread Love, Not Hatred. Say NO to Injustice, corruption and hatred.

Why I created these Banners?
In my understanding, Love is ever too great and powerful and forgiving as to let go of your false ego, your fears and insecurities. When you say I love Karachi, you are determined to seek every possible way to keep your city healthy, peaceful, good place to live and grow together etc… That’s the idea of Love towards your city, people and country, of course.

Loving Karachi, in my sincerest hopes, will instill a pride among its users to bring about a positive and healthy change and most importantly “tolerance” towards others. The stronger your tolerance level will be, the weaker your enemies’ ambitions and their cruel natures will succumb to the democracy of people and their deepest desire of living happily and freely without any fear.

When I say, I Love Karachi, I make an oath to myself, I make a commitment to myself that I will not let any negative force come between my integrity, my right of freedom and respect and my inalienable right of happiness and the prosperity of my city. That was the general idea, which, thanks to you, have come into words now.

It’s just a banner/button after all. It may well be just an idea. But underneath it is a lot more than just an idea. It takes a heart to see another one.

It’s 10:50 now. I woke up at 7 and got online at 8. Since 8′o clock I have been reading, browsing for various content/sites related to ID/UX/IxD/UI. It’s sure a long reading time. What’s more peculiar but not so uncommon in my life is using Firefox, Greasemonkey and couple of life-saving or life-enriching extensions to assist my reading. You can imagine there are many tabs opened all the time.

Actually, some tabs in my Firefox never go away. Thanks to new feature of Firefox 2.* I can have certain tabs restored everytime I open it up. The problem? Well, the problem lies in the fact that when I have as many as more than 20+ tabs, I can’t see them. It’s the same issue as was with Internet Explorer’s countless windows. Tabs were there so you don’t have to do Alt+Tab on your keyboard to see icons/windows names and switch back and forth. In Firefox 2.* you have to click the top <> links to see what’s more on right or left side.

Anyways, if it sounds familiar to you, there’s a workaround which I just got to know and is just as fine for me.

1. Open a new firefox tab.
2. Type “about:config” into the address bar
3. Type “tab” into the filter field.
4. Change the settings of both “browsers.tab.tabClipWidth” and “browsers.tab.tabMinWidth” to 5 or any other you may deem suited.
5. Restart Firefox.

Joel Spolsky never fails to entertain me and enlighten me no matter how old his post/article I am reading. This is a beautifully romantic excerpt from his very useful “Advice for Computer Science College Students“.

If you enjoy programming computers, count your blessings: you are in a very fortunate minority of people who can make a great living doing work they enjoy. Most people aren’t so lucky. The very idea that you can “love your job” is a modern concept. Work is supposed to be something unpleasant you do to get money to do the things you actually like doing, when you’re 65 and can finally retire, if you can afford it, and if you’re not too old and infirm to do those things, and if those things don’t require reliable knees, good eyes, and the ability to walk twenty feet without being out of breath, etc.

Even if you’re no more a CS student or heck, not even related to Computer Sciences or Web Design, STILL do read it so you know there’s more to a geeky and nerdy friend of yours than you might think ;) Go blast yourself
