February 2006

It’s the fresh start of a fresh weekend. Mondays are usually least favorite days of mine since my youth. But I am getting used to their boredom and putting in extra effort in finding new ways to keep myself indulged and busy. I hope it goes well.

Comments problems, which Hala did point out to me couple of days, has been resolved. Though already updated two blogs for friends, I hadn’t updated my own Word Press blog until today. Now, I am using Word Press 2.0.1.

There’re few more things need to be shared. But till then, keep your fingers crossed.

Red (Morgan Freeman): [reading a note left by Andy (Tim Robbins)] Remember, Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.

Red (Morgan Freeman): [narrating] I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.

Man’s capacity to miss and love someone is most certainly directly proportional to his ability to breathe and the desire to live happily.

You might have known by now or not.
Google’s payment system is now available to select sellers at . Here’s an interesting hint from the main and it’s also mentioned on the blog.

Looking ahead, we want to continue building payment services that meet the needs of Google users and advertisers. We expect to add payment functionality to Google services where our users need a way to buy online. For us, it’s all about bringing our users a better online experience whether they’re searching or buying.

There seems to be one big message here - We want to crush . Yeah, right. We want you to. Paypal never gave a damn to us Pakistanis so I am not a fan of it anyway. I am actually not a big fan of eBay as well anyway. It’s become more of an annoyance than a blessings for a lot of sellers (like me?) who don’t want to wait for bids or such stuff, they might just like to Sell their items on Fixed Price. Got it? On top of that, Google won’t charge us for listings fee as well unlike that of Ebay.
It means that Google has built a payment platform that is large enough and scalable enough that virtually anything is possible. It’s not like a start-up company when it says “Over the past four years, Google has billed advertisers in 65 countries more than $11.2 billion in 48 currencies, and made payments to advertising partners of more than $3.9 billion.”
Why I am personally excited about it? Hmmm, well, the time shall tell. Shan’t it?
It remains excruciatingly difficult for small merchants and non-profits to take transactions online. The banks and the credit card companies have not done enough to make it easy for legitimate businesses to easily accept online payments.
There’s a to get notified when it’s public. Here’s on the potential impact on eBay and its PayPal unit–which he thinks will be huge.

Game is on folks.

Note: Cheeso’s in Houston. The last thing I remember is reading the news of her topping her university in Dawn and here’s she gonna rock the world away with her momhood. Cheers for her!
