Looks like there’s some business left unattended. As the second and bigger snow of the season is about to fall in northern region of Pakistan, there are still some villages where food and blankets might have arrived but no medical treatment. We did return but not the doctors team. They were not willing to come back to Karachi and somehow they did manage to arrange a chopper for a heli-lift to any remote area of LoC. Hence, I am leaving now to join them as well. After all I have learnt bandage dressing and giving vaccination already. And otherwise as they say (in Black Hawk Down) that “Leave No Man Behind“. And surprisingly the team has agreed to allow two lady doctors from Karachi and one female volunteer to be part of the team. I have no doubt that these women of faith have been no less brillliant than any of the their male counterparts. I am not sure if I would be spending Eid at LoC or not but do pray for our success and safety.
Here are my last words quoted from my fav. movie, Black Hawk Down:
Struecker: No one gets left behind, you know that.
“Hoot” (Eric Bana): When I get home people ‘ll ask me, “Hey Hoot, why do ya do it man? Why? Just some war junkie?” Ya know what I’ll say? I won’t say a goddamn word. Why? They won’t understand. They won’t understand why we do it. They won’t understand that it’s about the men next to you, and that’s it. That’s all it is.
Attn my friends: my new no. is 0301-2987009. Harris and Iftikhar uncle should esp. remember it and use it until further notice.

To all those who love children and have compassions and strength:
PIMS hospital, here in Islamabad, has inside its premise a Children Hospital where injured children from the affected areas are being flown in. Many of these children are without their parents/guardians to look after them. The Hospital is now in a state of crisis with a continuous inflow of injured and sick children coming in from the earthquake affected areas. The hospital with its limited resources and staff is doing its best by providing timely and adequate treatment to the children. This is the time when it needs your help the most.
How can you HELP?
Now is the time to lend a helping hand. All that is needed of you is to volunteer your time and in kind by adopting a child in the hospital. You can adopt more than one child also. The child stays in the hospital and you pledge support by visiting him/her at least once in a day, spending some time with him/her, taking toys, clothes, shoes, gifts, etc for him/her and trying to meet his/her medical requirements as much as possible. What it means is that you become his/her guardian for as long as you can and/or for as long as s/he is in hospital.
THINK for a moment? When our near and dear ones are hospitalised or bed ridden at home, we spend most of our time looking after and nursing them. Many of us even take leave from office or work to nurse them. These children once had loving parents, brothers and sisters to look after them who are now dead/injured or missing. You can help them by giving some of your time. This is a continuous effort and needs a longer commitment. It’s not a one-time donation.
If you have the heart and will to undertake this noble cause, please come forward. You could just see yourself making a difference between LIFE and death.
Friends of Children is an Association that looks after and renders all kinds of support to deserving children. This Association has set up a tent outside the Children’s Hospital at PIMS. The Association is trying to give some monetary assistance (Rs. 5000/- per family) to those children who are being discharged from the hospital. All those who are interested in making contribution either in cash or kind to the cause are advised to contact the staff of the Friends of Children Association.
Whereas for those interested in making contribution in terms of time it is to inform that a roster including the names of volunteers is being prepared. There is a requirement for volunteers who would be willing to allocate time to these children according to the given schedule;
8:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m
8:00 p.m – 12:00 a.m
12:30 a.m- 4: 00 a.m
All those who are interested are advised to contact the following;
Ms. Shazreh Hussain – 0300-8563954
Ms. Maliha Hussain – 0300-8561521
Ms. Abida Aziz – 0300-5320529
Ms. Naseem Zahra – 0300-8546050
PIMS hospital has inside its premise a Children’s Hospital where injured children from Kashmir are being flown in. Soon all rooms and space inside the hospital will be used up. Friends of Children
Hospital have requested for your help.
What is required from YOU?
Anyone who has room and space in his/her home may volunteer to take in a child for a temporary period till s/he is able to go back to his home or till his family contacts you.
We need a volunteer, who can send out the mail to as many as possible, develop a roaster with names of confirmations who can take up a child and soon. As a first step please start circulating this
mail to many as possible.
These children are the future of their land. They need your help.
